Dr. Peter Jakob
Consultant Clinical Psychologist

With a background in social work, Peter has worked as Clinical Psychologist and Family Therapist in both CAMHS and Adult Mental Health for over 26 years, specialising in children and families involved with Social Services. His in-depth knowledge of treating trauma as the after-effect of childhood sexual abuse and other forms of sexual violence, physical abuse, neglect and domestic violence, as well as extensive experience in providing therapy for parents’ mental health problems, have led to the development of Resource Based Trauma Therapy.

For many years as Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the NHS, Peter was the Clinical Lead for a specialist multi-agency team, which provides therapy to Social Services in the most complex of cases, in which families have experienced severe trauma and multiple difficulties.

More recently, he has developed PartnershipProjects. Peter has been the first practitioner in the UK to establish Non Violent Resistance within the work of an entire team, and has adapted the approach for heavily traumatised, multistressed families, and for Looked After Children.
