Introduction to NVR for Professionals:
1-day presentation
Introduction to NVR (Non Violent Resistance) and New Authority for Professionals: a first introduction to principles and methods
This brief one day workshop will give an insight into the underlying principles and philosophy of NVR and introduce some of its core methods. It will also illustrate the specific child-focussed and trauma-focussed ways of working with NVR that have been developed by Dr Peter Jakob in the UK.
Participants will receive information on the rapidly growing evidence base for NVR, and the many new applications of the approach. We use PowerPoint presentation, video clips, role play, small group exercises and discussion to create a lively experiential learning environment for this first introduction to the principles and methods of NVR.

Intro
NVR is something I’ve never come across before. The approach will defiantly t make me think about how I approach working with families in fiture
Intro
Interesting new approach that I can use directly in practice
Intro
Knowledgeable practitioners who used mixed methods to embed ideas and techniques within an ethical framework. Thank you 😊
Intro
Will take this away to develop for self and for the service
Intro
The trainers were great.
Intro
Technique ideas/questions to ask and use now within my practice without doing the next level of training. Which I plan to complete following the MSc FT training.
Intro
Won’t forget and will start to use and pass ideas on to colleagues within the families substance misuse service.
Intro
Good overview of the general principles of nvr. I’d like to know more about how to use nvr … but I guess I’ll need to sign up for more training!
Intro
New ways of working very interesting will have to look more into this. Thank you very much 👍
Intro
I liked the links to Martin Luther king. Very interesting, thanks
Intro
The pace was very good, loved the introductions and hearing about the trainers relationship with the approach. I really liked the use of Case examples and the balance between approach / philosophy and techniques. One of the most applicable trainings I’ve been to in some time (perspective of qualified FT)
Intro
I would like to offer constructive feedback but I genuinely feel the training was very well thought out and useful. Perhaps some other contexts of using NVR could’ve been explored ( work settings, adults MH settings etc) though that’s informed by my own perspective of working in adults services. Thank you so much
Intro
Trainers knowledgeable. Thank you.

Intro
Great information & passion from trainers
Intro
I enjoyed that enthusiasm of the trainers who were clearly very knowledgeable. I enjoyed the easy to understand format and interactive elements.
Intro
I feel it was a very whistle stop tour and concepts were perhaps not explained as deeply due to the number of questions asked today. For example, I’m a little muddled about what the concept of silence actually means as I feel the two examples given were contradictory. I would also like to have a very brief (if possible) explanation of announcements and sit ins as these were discussed a lot in the video shown. But overall great training – thank you
Intro
Thank you for the great training. I’ve been given a lot to think about and a lot of concepts that I can bring to my own practice. I’ll definitely be giving the podcasts a listen to and will hope to do some more reading around tbis
Intro
Good overview of nvr and accessible to people new to nvr
Intro
I would have enjoyed understanding/ learning about the theoretical underpinnings of the approach.
Intro
I liked the ‘take home’ messages which felt applicable and accessible. Would be interested to know more. I don’t work with children however can see how this can be applied
Intro
Introduction of new ideas. It was helpful to have the reminder to focus and reflect on the response we were having rather than trying to learn all the material.
Intro
The knowledge provided and how to support parents more
Intro
I liked the use of silence. Thinking of changing position.
Intro

Intro
thank you
Intro
Really enjoyed looking forward to the group training
Intro
Really nice that Jill had such passion for this intervention
Intro
NVR is a very different approach and it challenged my thinking. It also has a parent centred focus and empowers them in positive/demonstrations of love. It also draws a line and demonstrates that the behaviour is no longer going to be accepted but the parents still love them.
Really enjoyed the training. Makes me want to find out more.
Intro
The training was interesting but I am a little concerned about how this approach could be shame inducting and doesn’t explore the communication behind the behaviour for the child. I worry that some children may not feel heard or understood, especially if they do not have the emotional literacy skills to understand why they behaved in the way they did. I would be interested to know if any research studies have looked into the impact on the children and not just the parent.
Intro
brilliant
Intro
